Fourth of July Celebration
On the day of the event, participants started arriving at about 1pm. This was also the official “gates open” time. Participants arrived as individuals, groups and families from all walks of life. While at the grounds, participants registered their attendance, registered to partake in trivias as well as adult and kids’ games and competitions. The games and competitions included; egg race, tyre race, bouncing castles, fill the bottle race, marine games, pizza eating among others. It is important to note that many were team games. Many gifts, vouchers and offers were won courtesy of our sponsors. Participants also toured and bought from the vendors. They bought food items including cakes, hot dogs, oriental foods, pizza, BBQ among others. The drinks bought included juices, alcohol, water, sodas, whiskeys among others.
Participants were also able to enjoy a share of the cake provided by Sheraton Kampala Hotel, have picture moments with the US Ambassador, listen to the live band and end the day by watching the beautiful fireworks display.
From the look on their faces, most of the participants left over joyed.
Vendors
We had about 9 vendors for the event. As earlier mentioned in the ‘pre-event’, they were contacted and contracted in different ways.
At the end of the event, we were glad that many of them had made profits as well as contacts for the future
Sponsors
Special thanks to our sponsors for the event; GEMS Cambridge International School, Stanbic Bank, Coca Cola, Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Pizza Hut Uganda, KK Security, UMC Victoria Hospital, Service and Computer Industries, Tamarai, Arena One, Explorers Hub, KONA, KASANA Ltd, Uganda Coupon Book, Jollity Creations, Shoebill Park! We appreciate your great support.
Each of these sponsors had a great contribution to the running of the celebrations. Some sponsorship was in kind while the other was monetory.
Ambassador’s Presence.
US Ambassador Deborah Malac’s appearance at the celebrations gave it a much-needed boost. Upon her arrival at about 4pm, she was received by the Board Members present and the General Manager. She then proceeded to visit each of the vendors and sponsors desks, taking to them, seeing what they do and ofcourse thanking them for partnering with AmCham for the Celebrations.
She addressed briefly, all those in attendance particularly highlighting the upcoming efforts of the US Government to ensure better healthcare for the Ugandan Population. She wished everyone a belated 4th of July! She was later joined by kids at the event to cut the independence cake!
